Coyote Linux & BrazilFW Add-ons - How-to use 1680kB Floppy

How-to use 1680kB Formated Floppy

Standard Coyote Linux & BrazilFW distribution fits to single 1.44MB 3.5" floppy disc and there is even some free space left on the floppy. But if you use some Addon packages, you will probably soon run out of free space. Some of my most popular packages also don't fit on a standard floppy disc. If you still want to use them without running Coyote Linux from hard drive, this howto is ment just for you. It will show you how to use 3.5" floppy disk formated to 1680kB with Coyote Linux & BrazilFW.

What you will need

How to make a new 1680MB Coyote Linux floppy

If you want to build completly new Coyote Linux or BrazilFW router follow these steps. If you already have a working floppy, see next chapter.

  1. Download all required tools and prepare blank formated 3.5" floppy disc
  2. Use Coyote Linux or BrazilFW windows wizzard to create new system floppy
  3. Boot-up your brand new Coyote Linux and test if everything works as expected. Do not continue if you have any problems with your instalation and solve them first!
  4. Create a temporary folder on your computer, inserted created floppy to disc drive and copy all files except of ldlinux.sys from floppy to this folder
  5. Remove the floppy from drive and store it in case you need it again
